Shadow Flicker

Turbine shadow flicker occurs in the home, around the home and on the local roads in the Lee-DeKalb counties. It’s difficult to get away from it, even if it’s not in your own home. Our friends and neighbors have it in their homes. Even if neither of us has in our home at the moment, the fields and roads can be another problem.

My wife and would love to by a parcel of beautiful land - a farm - in southeastern Lee county, and we were considering looking into having one or two wind mills place on there because we believe in energy independence and the payment to us would help finance the property. But after reading and researching these justifiable issues such as sleeplessness, nausea, shadow flicker, turbine fires and tower collapses, etc. and just the effect of the general health to human and animal, we are quickly changing our minds! We are even considering not making an offer on this property we love so much because we are now worried that neighbors will set them up and it will ruin our "little slice of paradise". But we still need more evidence to convince us either way.

    Dick,

Do you really believe that shadow flicker only happens for 5 minutes and what do you base that statement on? Have you ever experienced it first hand and the various situations under which it can occur? Please elaborate to better explain your position and why you believe it's nonsense.

There are about 200 non participating home owners in the footprint of the DeKalb County Industrial Wind Energy Center. The general feeling of the home owners is that no one wanted the wind turbines in the first place and certainly would not want them on their land. So, for clarification, please identify the home owners you are referring to.

What a bunch of nonsense. They got up at 6 am or whenever the 5 minutes of shadows cross their house and act like it's happening all the time.

Sour grapes that your land wasn't chosen. Get over it.
