How to help
A wind farm is planned in your backyards! What can you do to help?
Sign up to our email list so we can communicate timely information to you.
1. Voice your opposition to the Lee-DeKalb Wind Energy Center.
Send your complaints to emphasize the impact that you have been subjected to by filling out a disturbance report. Click on this link to report your disturbance.
2. Contact the board members and let them know that you oppose the wind farm project in Dekalb County. You can contact them by email, phone, or postal mail
Send one email to as many DeKalb board members as you can, once a day until they respond to you. To see an example of a letter that was sent to the board recently click here.
3. Send the Opposition Letter. Send a letter of opposition to each of the board members. Here is the link to the letter in PDF format so you can print and mail. The Board Members address info is the link Contact DeKalb County Board on the right side under Pages Opposition Letter PDF Download
4. Sign the Petition! Get a copy of the petition, it includes both the Lee-DeKalb and Shabbona versions. Fill it out and ask your friends to join you also. Contact us by email, at help@NoWindFarms.com, for someone to pick it up and answer any questions you may have.
5. Put a “No Wind Farm” sign in your yard! To get a sign, contact us by email, at help@NoWindFarms.com
6. Spread the word! NextEra Energy and the Dekalb Board have been very quiet about this project in hope’s of just slipping in without giving people a chance to react and voice themselves. Tell everyone who is even remotely connected to this in any way. There is greater impact from Wind Turbines than what NextEra will tell you. This will affect more people that just those who will be direct neighbors.
7. Use your expertise. If you are a lawyer, a politician, an artist etc, lets brainstorm and think of ways to communicate and mobilize people and power to have real impact. There are many 10’s of millions of dollars slated to change hands through this deal so we need some serious clout to change the minds of those in the decision making positions.
