FACTS

1. NextEra Energy, a subsidiary of FPL Energy Illinois Wind, is proposing to build, own and operate 133 wind turbines in portions of Afton, Clinton, Milan, and Shabbona townships which are members of Dekalb and Lee counties respectively.

2. The win turbines will be 398 feet tall. To give a comparison, the Holmes Student Center at NIU is only about 250 feet tall. From the proposed Windfarm location, just  the south of  I88  in  DeKalb, the Student Center can be seen clear as day from over 5-6 miles. How much easier will it be to see these wind turbines, which are almost 150 larger.

3. A special use permit, MI-09-01, has been filed by NextEra with the Dekalb County PLanning and Zoning Department. 110 E. Sycamore St. in Sycamore.
